Today I saw a couple of
legionaries' who had wooden swords. They didn't have metal swords because
the miners are on strike. This has caused great depression among the
soldiers. In addition to not having metal swords some soldiers have been
forced to fight without javelins, fully finished shields, or even armor.
Many have died because they don't have the right gear.
Another thing is that they
don't have enough metal to complete their shoes. The shoes are not getting finished so they don't have any spikes on the
bottom of them for traction. The legionaries are sliding on the gravel
looking like monkeys on ice skates.
As we leave are report we
hope that the miners stop their striking and the army will have more
weapons to fight with.
